Paul Starrett is a distinguished professional with a multifaceted career spanning over 25 years in privacy, data protection, and compliance technology. As the founder of PrivacyLabs, Paul has established a firm that specializes in providing cutting-edge solutions in these critical areas. His expertise extends to machine learning, cybersecurity, cloud security management, threat detection, and programming in Python, making him a versatile and highly skilled leader in the field.

His career began in law enforcement and corporate security and audit, where he developed a strong foundation in investigative techniques and risk management. He later transitioned into information security software engineering, electronic discovery, and information management, further broadening his technical and analytical skills. His extensive experience includes serving as general counsel and chief global risk officer for an international, publicly held data management corporation, where he led global legal operations and risk-management groups.

He was the founding chair of the Big Data Committee of the American Bar Association from 2013 to 2020 and remains active in several professional organizations, including the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and ISACA.

Paul is also an accomplished author and speaker who has presented extensively on data science (AI), electronic evidence, and data management at prestigious conferences and associations, including the American Records Management Association, Compliance Week, Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, the International Legal Technology Association, LegalTech (New York), and the High-Tech Criminal Investigations Association.

He holds a Master of Science in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation. His certifications include computer forensics examiner (EnCE) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Paul is also an adjunct lecturer in AI Governance at Santa Clara University School of Law and an adjunct professor in Law and AI at the University of the Pacific's Masters in Data Science program.
